1000 STUDENT AUTHORS CREATED AND COUNTING...

Welcome to Book-in-a-Day, an inspiring literacy program, where middle and high school students (and now elementary) learn how to write well-crafted poetry, and how to publish a book—IN ONE DAY. This program is built on the belief that students become avid readers and engaged writers when they assume complete responsibility for becoming authors. At the conclusion of the program, a book launch is held where students read their poems and autograph copies. Since 2006, we've created over 1000 students authors!

This summer, Book-in-a-Day took eight writer/educators to Italy for a writing fellowship. We rented a villa, hired a chef, and set out to encourage and inspire novice and professional writers to start/finish their book projects. You can see photos, video highlights and blogs at Writing Tuscany.

Book-in-a-Day is the non-profit literacy partner of the Capital BookFest. a one day, free literary festival that takes place in Largo, MD, Charleston, SC, and Harrisburg, PA.
